10 Free Activities this Summer at CP&R

Summer is almost underway and CP&R has lots of things going on! Aside from all of our camps, clinics, sports leagues, and of course the waterpark opening at the Wellness & Aquatic Center, CP&R will also host multiple FREE activities and events this summer for all to attend. Be sure to mark your calendar and enjoy the fun!

1. Drive-In Movies
When: June 10th & July 8th
Where: Nesmith Park in front of the old pool
What: Free showings on our big screen of Inside Out on June 10th, and July 8th showing Norm of the North. Movies start at dark around 8:45pm.

2. Weekly Just Play! Program
When: Friday's at 1pm in June & July
Where: A different CP&R small park each week (click here for the schedule)
What: A free weekly program for ages 5-12 with organized time at the parks including: scavenger hunts, water balloon fights, slip-n-slides, capture the flag, kickball, relay games, and more!

3. 2nd Fridays at Festhalle 
When: Friday, June 10th, July 8th, August 12th, and September 9th at 6pm
Where: Festhalle Marketplatz
What: Late night farmer's market, craft vendors, live music, kid's games and activities, and food trucks.
4. Disc Golf
When: 24/7 access
Where: Heritage Park
What: 18-hole disc golf course open year-round at the park

5. Splash Pad
When: May-September from 11am-7pm daily
Where: Heritage Park
What: Water playground with water guns, fountains, and other water play features.


6. Playground Fun
When: Sunrise to sunset daily
Where: Heritage Park, Ingle Park, Culpepper Park, Nesmith Park, Steiflemeyer Park, Carroll Acres Park, and City Park
What: Playgrounds with slides, see-saws, jungle gyms, and more!

7. Jammin' in the Gym 
When: Tuesday's in June at 6pm
Where: Donald E. Green Senior Center at Ingle Park
What: Free concert series featuring bluegrass, 50s and 60s, country, and rock & roll.

8. Exercise in the Park
When: Tuesdays at 6pm from September to November
Where: Depot Park
What: Free fitness class for anyone to attend led by an instructor from the Cullman Wellness & Aquatic Center including Yoga, Cardio Party, Zumba, and more.

9. Summer Concerts Series 
When: Thursday's in September at 6pm
Where: Heritage Park
What: Free concert series at the recognition gardens at Heritage Park with country, modern music, rock & roll, and more.

10. Discount Days at the Wellness & Aquatic Center 
Christmas in July - Friday, July 8th
Bring in non-perrishable food items for Cullman Caring for Kids to receive $5 day passes and $50 off any membership.
Person with the most food items will win a 6 month family membership.

Monday Fun-Days
1/2 priced day passes for just $5 each
from 6pm-10pm

Dive-in Movies
June 16th, July 21st, and August 11th
Come pay just $5 for free swim and use of the waterpark
starting at 6pm with a movie by the pool starting at dark
around 8:45pm!

Heritage Park Outdoor Circuit Workout #2

The second circuit for our Heritage Park fitness equipment is here! Modify these exercises to meet your specific needs. If you wish to mix these exercises in with those that were featured in our first     post feel free to do so!  Warm-up: walk 1.5-mile loop or do Cardio Stepper for 5-10 minutes Assisted Row W: 2 sets/ 10 reps M: 2 sets/ 15 reps Squat Press W: 2 sets/10 reps M: 2 sets/ 15 reps Reverse Crunches/Leg Raises W: 2 sets/ 25 reps M: 2 sets/ 25 reps Cool down: walk 1.5-mile loop *Take a 60-90 second break between repetitions or walk to each different station as a “break” ** Be sure to check with your doctor before beginning any new exercise routine.
