Heritage Park Outdoor Circuit Workout

If you have visited the walking trails around the perimeter of Heritage Park, you may have noticed some new equipment scattered throughout the park. No, it’s not abstract art pieces, it’s actually outdoor exercise equipment! If working out inside the walls of a gym isn’t really your thing, you should try doing circuit workouts using this new equipment! You don’t have to do every piece of equipment in one visit, try mixing up your routine about every two weeks to give your muscles some variety.
This circuit is just an example of how you can combine the different pieces of equipment to complete a full-body workout. Feel free to do more, or less than what is listed below. Start small and gradually work up to challenging yourself over time! This circuit workout is the first of many. Stay tuned for a new workout in a few weeks that will feature other pieces of equipment!

Featured Activity of the Month: Foam Rolling

After a tense week, or a difficult workout you need to take time to stretch and relieve muscle soreness and tension. Rising in popularity, but not at all new to professional athletes. This is a recovery method that has been used by trainers for years, but has now made a mainstream appearance and doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon. So, what exactly is foam rolling? It’s a simple way to massage muscles and speed up the recovery process without having to schedule a weekly appointment with your massage therapist (score!). This method of recovery can break-up adhesions and scar tissue that cause muscle tightness. Don’t get ahead of yourself though. Foam rolling can be uncomfortable, but should not be unbearable. But why would you willingly do something to your body that hurts? If you have ever had a deep tissue massage, you know it can be uncomfor…

What is the Power of Produce?

If you are a fan of fresh produce you have probably visited the Farmer’s Market at Festhalle Market Platz in the Warehouse District of Cullman. From April to October, the market bodes the freshest fruits and vegetables you can find. But, are there some fresh ingredients that you aren’t sure how to prepare? Or, are there certain foods that your children refuse to eat? Luckily, the Power of Produce (POP) program is back for the 2017 market season to try and help to convert your picky eaters! So, what exactly is the POP program? POP is targeted toward children ages 12 and under and their parents. It is a produce tasting program designed to make it easier for kids and adults to try new, healthy foods. Sometimes, it is not the kids that are picky and unwilling to try new foods, it’s the parents. This program presents the opportunity to step out and try new foods, by sampling recipes that feature these fruits and vegetables. The program not only allows the sampling of the produc…
